MINGLE: 4th of July Weekend in Palm Beach County

Photograph by DANIELLE

So, 4th of July weekend is pretty much here and while I may just be at home thoroughly engrossed in my toe wiggling fascination… you, just may be wondering what there is to do about town.

One event that’s caught my eye is the 3rd of July Celebration in downtown Lake Worth.  Mostly because of the homemade American Pie contest.  If you’re interested in participating, contact Michele Bell of 531 East Boutique at 561-249-2524 for details.  The festival takes place from 11am to 6pm, with the pie contest at 2pm. “From My Heart to Yours” Apple Cider

Painting by JONAS BRODIN

Hello you sexy beasts.  This beverage was so good, that I had to title the post after Laura Izibor’s song of the same.

Anyhoo, the other day I got an itch to make apple cider from scratch (no pun intended).  On the way home from work, I saw a guy on the corner of the street selling oranges so I bought a bag, then headed to the grocery store to pick up the ingredients I didn’t already have (namely apples). MINGLE: Northwood Village Art & Wine Promenade

Stipple by JAKE S. EAVES

So, what are you doing tonight from 6-10PM?  Nothing?  Then you could be heading over to Northwood village for their Art & Wine Promenade.  A FREE event (I’m sold) with complimentary wine tasting, live entertainment and streetside artists.

Where is Northwood Village?  Located between Broadway (US Highway 1) and Dixie Highway, quaint little Northwood Village just so happens to be the perfect getaway without actually going away.  It’s the home of many eclectic and one-of-a-kind businesses, shops, cafes and restaurants.

The “Art and Wine Promenade” is held the last Friday of each month.

MINGLE: Clybourne Park at the Caldwell Theatre Company

Gregg Weiner, Karen Stephens & Brian D. Coats in Clybourne Park

Clybourne Park, a play by writer/actor Bruce Norris, will be playing at the Caldwell Theater in Boca Raton from now until February 2.  The play is in response to Lorraine Hansberry’s “A Raisin in the Sun”, a story which follows the experience of a black family’s move from the south side of Chicago to Clybourne Park, an entirely white neighborhood.

“Act I opens in 1959, as a white couple sells their home to a black family, causing uproar in their middle-class Chicago neighborhood. Act II transports us to the same house in 2009, when the stakes are different, but the debate is strikingly familiar. Adamant provocateur Bruce Norris launches his characters into lightning-quick repartee as they scramble for control of the situation, revealing how we can—and can’t—distance ourselves from the stories that linger in our houses.” Continue reading
